Watch: Applicant Packager in 60 seconds
Applicant Packager is a free Windows app for recruiters. Point it at your Thunderbird or IMAP inbox, find the job applications, and save the CVs you pick into tidy folders. This one-minute video shows the whole flow. Every app screen in it is the real Applicant Packager 1.0.6 desktop app scanning a real recruiting inbox, with applicant names and emails blurred.
1. Find
The app finds applications in your inbox, newest first, so hundreds of emails become one shortlist to work through.
2. Review: see why it matched
For each application the app shows why it matched: keyword hits, attachment names and scoring reasons. You can judge a match at a glance instead of opening every email.
3. Save to folders
Every selected CV gets a home: folders organised by search, role and applicant. Existing files are renamed rather than overwritten.
Reads inside the CV
The app reads inside the CV (PDF, Word, text, and scanned CVs through the OCR that ships with Windows), so a match can come from what the CV actually says, not just the subject line.
An AI assistant can sort your inbox
Applicant Packager ships a command-line tool, applicants, that an AI assistant can run for you. Ask in plain words and it exports the applications, opens the CVs and drafts a shortlist. You still decide. See Sort a whole inbox of applications with one command.
Applicant data stays under your control
- Everything runs on your computer: no developer-operated cloud, no telemetry, no online activation.
- Mailbox access is read-only, and you make the decisions. The app never replies or moves mail.
- Works with Thunderbird mailboxes and direct IMAP access. Outlook / Microsoft 365 sign-in is in testing for 1.1.
